Pill started out as a Canadian-produced show, and it took a while to break into the American market. Bruce Gray starred in an episode of Traders. Pill secured a role on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation featuring Wallace Langham, Liz Vassey and Michael Ensign, in the episode "Would have, Can, Shoulda" written and performed by Naren Shakar. Pill's role as Picard was followed by a prominent supporting character as "Katie" on Devs. This TV show, produced in collaboration with FX Productions on Hulu and was produced by the digital-VFX company Double Negative, featured her throughout the series. The similarity with Picard was not just a coincidence. As revealed earlier in that same year, the major theme of Devs was around the ability to keep consciousness inside an artificial creation.
